Last year’s fund raising and donations enabled Digswell Place RDA to provide more than 1500 rides to disabled children and adults.

Contributions from riders (a little over £14,000) covered less than a third of the cost of keeping the ponies and horses.

Based on the costs for the last academic year Digswell Place RDA needs to raise £31,500 from fundraising and donations to pay for the day to day expenses of keeping the ponies and horses and maintaining the pasture, fences etc. so for every ride provided the charity needs to raise over £20.

The recent generous donations from Panshanger Football Club, Welwyn Rotary Club and the Childwick Trust will fund the shortfall for 2 riders for the whole school year and many smiles during that time.

(A recent highlight was a young Down’s syndrome rider, who barely manages to hold on usually, managed to balance and put her gloves back on whilst at a slow walk; this achievement may seem nothing to us but this superb multi-tasking made helpers and granny all smile and clap her!)
