The subject of resurfacing our drive has come up annually for many many years as the surface becomes riddled with potholes due to ever increasing usage and bad weather. We have never had the money to do a proper job, so we have regularly had to "patch" it. After much research the most affordable solution for us was cement stabilisation by MP & KM Golding Road Reclamation Services who have also done extensive work for both the Forestry Commission and the National Trust.  A very generous donation of £15,000 from The Hornbeams Society funded most of the £18,000 (incl VAT) cost of cement stabilisation of the drive which is expected to have a lifespan of at least 15 years and will [...]

Black Horse Painting Team 2017 ! A huge thank you must go to the fabulous team from Black Horse Asset Finance who have visited us for the third year running on their "volunteering day". Once again the team were blessed with wonderful weather and spent the day putting a second coat of Sadolin on our new field shelters in order to protect them from all weathers and ensure that they last us a very long time ! We are also extremely grateful to Black Horse Asset Finance for donating £150.00 towards the cost of the materials which were supplied by Crown Decorators Centre, Welwyn Garden City  at a very generous discount courtesy of Richard ! Congratulations and enormous thanks to St Albans school who raised a fabulous £1187 for us at their mufti day. We are going to allocate their donations to very important pasture maintenance (aerating, harrowing, top dressing, fertilising, seeding and rolling) which has cost £1027.77. By taking good care of our fields we ensure that we have good quality nutritious grazing for our lovely horses and ponies which in turn keeps them happy and healthy. THANK YOU !  

Thank you to everyone who supported our Race night on Saturday. A great time was had by one and all and we are delighted to report that we raised an absolutely whopping £2000 which will pay for 100 rides and lots of smiles this summer term.                                         THANK YOU !  

Thank you ! Your amazing generosity at our third Dogs & Daffs Day along with donations and sponsorships raised over £5,300. We are absolutely thrilled with this, it will enable us to pay for a special extra wide saddle for each of our 2 new Highland Ponies and subsidise the costs of all therapeutic rides for our disabled riders for 1 month. Last year's fund raising and donations enabled Digswell Place RDA to provide more than 1500 rides to disabled children and adults. Contributions from riders (a little over £14,000) covered less than a third of the cost of keeping the ponies and horses. Based on the costs for the last academic year Digswell Place RDA needs to raise £31,500 from fundraising and donations to pay for the day to day expenses of keeping the ponies and horses and maintaining the pasture, fences etc. so for every ride provided the charity needs to raise over £20. The recent generous donations from Panshanger Football Club, Welwyn Rotary Club and the Childwick Trust will fund the shortfall for 2 riders for the whole school [...]

A huge thank you to the fantastic Roche ladies for choosing Digswell Place to spend a day volunteering as part of a Roche incentive to support and promote the benefits of volunteering and also do some offsite team building. They were blessed with glorious sunshine and all did an amazing job painting the three new field shelters with wood preserver as well as finishing off the stables and starting the hay barn   ? We are hugely appreciative as it is a job we just wouldn't have got round to otherwise and it makes all the difference as the buildings will last a lot longer having been painted with wood preserver. Congratulations to three of our riders on our Monday afternoon session who have achieved their Endeavour award. Our three riders set their own ‘goals’ and 'challenges' to work towards  in order to achieve the Endeavour certificate and badge.  Samantha and Stuart’s goal was to be able to groom their horses. Ryan’s goal was to learn to ride so he could go for a long walk in the woods. A fantastic achievement and well done to riders, ponies, volunteers and coaches !
